How to reach Trimbakeshwar

The short version

Trimbak is a small temple town about 28 km from Nashik city and roughly 40 km from Nashik Road railway station. There is no railway line to Trimbak itself — everyone arrives via Nashik and covers the last stretch by road.

By train

Nashik Road station is the railhead for the region, sitting on the main Mumbai–Manmad line. Long-distance trains from Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and the south stop here.

• Nashik Road → Nashik city (CBS): about 20 minutes by local bus or auto.
• Nashik CBS → Trimbak: roughly 1 to 1.5 hours by ST bus, less by taxi.
• A direct taxi from Nashik Road to Trimbak takes about an hour. Prepaid counters and app taxis both work; agree the fare before you sit.

By bus

Maharashtra State Transport (ST) buses run frequently between Nashik's Central Bus Stand (CBS) and Trimbak through the day — this is the cheapest and honestly the most local way in. During the mela, extra buses are added and special services run from temporary depots.

By air

• Nashik (Ozar) airport has limited commercial flights.
• Mumbai (around 180–200 km) is the practical international option; from there, take a train or a taxi (4–5 hours).

By road from the big cities

• Mumbai → Trimbak: about 4.5–5.5 hours depending on route and traffic.
• Pune → Trimbak: about 5 hours via Nashik.
• The ghat stretch into Trimbak is narrow and beautiful. During peak mela days one-way traffic systems apply — patience is part of the package.

Getting around once you are here

Trimbak town is small — the temple, kund and market are all within a 15-minute walk. Autos ply between the bus stand and the temple area for a short hop. On bathing days, expect to walk the last kilometre or more; private vehicles are stopped at the outskirts.
